OVERVIEW

Explore the Getty Villa and museum, a tribute to the glory of Greek, Roman and Etruscan artistic expression in one of Malibu’s most beautiful settings. After pausing for photos in Santa Monica, you will continue along the famed Pacific Coast Highway to the Getty Villa, where more than a thousand antiquities are on display. The museum is modeled on a 1st-century Roman villa discovered near Herculaneum, the Italian town that was destroyed along with Pompeii when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. The collection of antiquities ranges from ancient drinking vessels and clay figurines to classical Greek and Roman statuary, art objects and jewelry. The museum also houses rare manuscripts, drawings, paintings and decorative arts. But not all the treasures lie inside. The grounds feature an aromatic garden of herbs like those used by the ancient Romans, reflecting pools, ornate fountains and covered walkways leading to spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.

Nothing says Los Angeles more than "Beaches and Beverly Hills"! This tour will begin at the Port of Los Angeles, where you will disembark the ship and begin a tour in route to Beverly Hills. Here you'll be taken through the most exclusive neighborhoods, and on to Rodeo Drive, the home of world famous stores and shops. This will be a perfect time and place to pick up a souvenir or two along the way. Upon departure from Rodeo Drive our next visit will be to Santa Monica, the home of the world famous amusement pier where we will stop for you to enjoy the atmosphere, scenery and ocean breezes. The Tour will conclude at Los Angeles International Airport.

Welcome to Los Angeles! This LA overview tour begins at the Port of Los Angeles where you'll disembark your ship and join this exciting, fact filled excursion through the highlights of the city. You’ll pass the Los Angeles Coliseum, the University of Southern California, the Museum of Natural History and through the downtown area of Los Angeles. Enjoy a stop at Olvera Street, one of the oldest streets in this lovely city. Here you'll have time to stroll through the local Mexican handicraft shops and cafes.

Upon departure from Olvera Street your drive takes you to Hollywood through one of the main streets, Hollywood Boulevard, where you'll have time to see the famous TLC Chinese Theater. This is the location of the hand and foot prints of famous movie stars. Continue on to the famous Farmers Market, where you’ll have free time to purchase lunch (at your own expense) or to shop for gifts or souvenirs. The tour concludes at Los Angeles International Airport. For operational reasons the tour may be altered.

OVERVIEW

Explore the wonders of astronomy at the Griffith Observatory and spend free time browsing the Original Farmers Market, an institution since opening in 1934. The observatory and park below it are named for Griffith J. Griffith, an industrialist who donated the land when he died in 1919. While visiting, you might gaze through the telescopes, watch a Tesla coil demonstration and peruse the Wilder Hall of the Eye, which focuses on how people have observed the sky over the centuries. Outside, there is a different sort of star: a bust of actor James Dean, who shot many of the scenes in his breakthrough 1955 movie “Rebel Without a Cause” at the observatory. You will also enjoy an excellent view of the famed Hollywood sign. The farmer’s markets is another L.A. icon. The merchandise now includes much more than garden-fresh produce as you will find everything from art and clothing to jewelry and toys.

Your drop-off point is nearby shopping, restaurants, as well as one of the top attractions of Long Beach – the Aquarium of the Pacific. You’ll have approximately four hours on your own for shopping, dining or to explore any of the cities well-known attractions.

This transfer includes round-trip transportation to and from Rodeo Drive, as well as free time to do as you wish. Enjoy the highlights of Los Angeles on the way, as you travel to Rodeo Drive, shopping area of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. You’ll have approximately three hours on your own to have lunch and or do some shopping before your one-hour return drive to the ship.
